Marriage - Family & Values - Indian Girl way!

Image
Off late I came across this fantastic video with a very beautiful message on " RELATIONSHIPS " - RELATIONSHIP- by itself is a very broader term!!! As Indians, we are always taught- " VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM ", a traditional Sanskrit phrase that means- " Whole world is one single family ". Modern India, faces many " Kashmakash " of relationships. This post is a small effort to help understand and resolve the same. Indian tradition, by itself encourages open mindedness ( as far as we truly understand its essence and not narrow minded translated and customized versions of same! ) We have a strong Geographical, racial, climatic, social, lingual, religion and, political Diversity.  Ancient Indians, in fact, were extremely modern and broadminded in their mindset. They never held on too small-small things we call taboos today and were open and way too forward than us. India only changed with a series of invasions that happened in our country l

MEN WOMEN - BOTH!

Image
It's been a while for women's day, but the same thought that comes to my mind each year, why do we need a women's day? why do we need a women's forum in corporate world? and and so on... Little research and introspection got me here, our Scriptures have all answers! When Lord Brahma created humanity, He needed Manu and Satrupa both to begin creation. Not just Manu or just Satrupa. Both. Equally needed. Manu and Satrupa were different in gender, had different powers for completing same goal/ responsibility! Gender equality, is that really the problem? No. Men and women are not equal. They were never meant to be. Each have different powers, each have there own limitations, each needs to be working together for success!!! BOTH need to be working together. Then why do we need women's day? women's forums? and so on... The answer is in finding the real problem. The problem is over a period of time, our very society forgot its very roots. We have less women

Jai Katyayani Mahamayi!

Jai Katyayni Mahamayi ! Maharishi Katayana was always devoted in worship of Maa Durga. He did a lot of hard penance for many years. His wish was that mother Durga was born as his daughter. Mother Durga accepted his prayer. When the tyranny of the demon Mahishasur got on the earth, Lord Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh all gave a piece of their own to create a Goddess for the destruction of Mahishasura. Maharishi Katyayana first worshiped them. For this reason Maa was called Katyayani. That is why Katyayani Maa is considered to be the daughter of Maharishi Katyayana. Katyayani Maa is Adhishthatri Devi of Braj. The Bhagavata Purana 10th canto (skandha) 22nd chapter describes the legend of Katyayani Vrata, where Gopis (young marriageable daughters of the cowherd men) of Gokula in Braja, worshipped Goddess Katyayani (Goddess Durga) and took a vrata or vow, during the entire month of Margashirsha, the first month of the winter season, to get Lord Krishna as their husband. During t

Lord Hanuman & Suvarchala Vivah Katha Jai Jai Jai Hanuman Gosai,  Kripa Karahu Guru-Dev Ki Nai Seeing Hanuman growing older, his mother told him: “Son! It is time to get educated. There is no better teacher than Surya, the Sun god, who dispels all darkness. Go to him and gain knowledge.” Even though he was omnipotent, Hanuman obeyed his mother. He reached the Surya Mandala and humbly prayed the Sun god: “O! Surya Deva, I want to learn Vedas, Vedangas, and Upangas from you. Please teach me.” Surya replied: “O! Boy of Anjana, I am always on the move, as ordained by Almighty, how can I teach you? ” Hanuman was angered. He blocked the path of Surya. Surya pacified Hanuman. He said: “I have no objection to teach you. But you have to find a way to learn”. Hanuman stood facing the sun and started walking backwards. Surya was moving forward and was teaching Hanuman. Lord Siva is said to know all and Hanuman, who is Lord Siva’s incarnation, proved to
